EYE Plus Eye Clinic doctors

Finding a trusted eye doctor is the first and most important step in achieving successful vision correction.
At EYE Plus Eye Clinic, our board-certified ophthalmologists bring over 25 years of clinical experience in advanced vision correction procedures, including:

  • · SMILE LASIK and SMILE Pro
  • · LASEK
  • · Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) surgery
  • · Presbyopia correction

Rather than focusing on a single procedure, we provide comprehensive and personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s eye condition, lifestyle, and long-term visual needs.
With decades of accumulated surgical experience and data-driven analysis,
EYE Plus Eye Clinic is committed to delivering safe, precise, and reliable outcomes for every patient seeking vision correction in Seoul.

Dr. Yong-Jae Lee
0.1mm of detail, say the essence of Smail LASIK ophthalmology.

SMILE LASIK is a highly precise procedure that separates corneal tissue using laser technology.
Dr. Yong-Jae Lee, a Harvard-trained ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience in vision correction, has built his expertise on both advanced surgical techniques and long-term clinical data.
Rather than focusing on simple visual recovery, he emphasizes designing higher-quality vision tailored to each patient.
At EYE Plus Eye Clinic, the philosophy is clear:
technology supports the process, but it is surgical precision and experience that determine the outcome.

  • Q1. After 25 years in vision correction, what does “surgery” mean to you?

Vision correction surgery is ultimately about designing how light enters the eye.
While separating corneal tissue with a laser may seem straightforward,
even a 0.1 mm difference can affect visual clarity, glare, and overall quality of vision.
Having performed thousands of surgeries since my training, I still approach every case with the same level of focus.
That attention to detail is what maintains consistency in surgical outcomes.

  • Q2. With more clinics offering SMILE LASIK, does better equipment always mean better results?

Advanced technology is an excellent tool.
For example, next-generation laser systems like ZEISS VisuMax improve both speed and precision.
However, using the same equipment does not guarantee the same results.
Accurately aligning the visual axis and minimizing optical errors requires refined surgical judgment,
which is developed through long-term experience.
Ultimately, the surgeon’s expertise is what determines how effectively the technology is used.

  • Q3. What advice would you give to patients choosing an eye clinic?

Instead of focusing on speed or cost, patients should consider
whether the clinic takes full responsibility for long-term outcomes.
I believe it is important to:

    • continuously monitor patient data after surgery
    • provide follow-up care even years later
    • ensure that the surgeon remains directly involved in the entire process

Consistency in care and long-term responsibility are key factors in achieving safe results.

Ophthalmology recommendations, you need a 'vision design' that fits your life.

Vision correction is not simply about achieving 1.0 vision.
Dr. YongSeok Choi emphasizes “Vision Design” — a personalized approach that aligns vision with each patient’s lifestyle.
Rather than focusing only on numerical correction, he carefully evaluates
daily habits, working environment, driving patterns, digital device usage, and even dry eye tendencies.
At EYE Plus Eye Clinic, the goal is not just successful surgery,
but a vision outcome that remains comfortable and practical in real life, supported by structured long-term care.

  • Q1. You emphasize “Vision Design.” How is it different from standard vision correction?

Every patient’s eyes are different—but more importantly, so is their lifestyle.
Someone who works on a computer all day, drives frequently, or requires high visual precision
will each have different visual needs.
I do not approach surgery as a simple refractive correction.
Instead, I incorporate factors such as occupation, hobbies, and night-time activity into the consultation.
This is what I call Vision Design, and it is one of the most important factors in patient satisfaction.

  • Q2. What do you consider most important during SMILE LASIK or ICL procedures?

    I look beyond corneal thickness.
Factors such as corneal strength, dry eye risk, and pupil size must all be considered.
    Even if visual acuity improves,
severe dry eye or night glare can significantly reduce quality of life.
In the case of ICL surgery, I also carefully evaluate
the anterior chamber depth and internal eye structure.
At EYE Plus, even if the examination process takes longer,
we prioritize confirming conditions that allow patients to feel
    “comfortable and stable after surgery.”

  • Q3. When do you feel the most rewarding moment as a doctor?

The most rewarding moment is when patients say,
“I feel much more comfortable than I expected.”
Especially for patients who were anxious before surgery,
hearing that after thorough consultation and achieving a satisfying result
reminds me of the responsibility we carry as surgeons.
A good outcome does not begin in the operating room—
it begins with clear explanation and honest communication.
